Founder
Karen Walrond, J.D.
Karen Walrond is an attorney, writer, photographer, author and founder of Lime Retreats. She is the former Chief Counsel of one of the largest software companies in the oil & gas industry and the former Chief of Staff of a Fortune 200 company. In addition to her extensive legal experience, she is also the author of the best-selling book The Beauty of Different: Observations of a Confident Misfit, and the creative mind behind the award-winning site Chookooloonks, a finalist in the photography category of the 2011 Bloggies. She is a TEDxHouston speaker and a sought-after keynote speaker, having covered topics as varied as diversity, social media and women in leadership, and has appeared on both local & national television shows and other news media, including PBS, Huffington Post, CNN.com and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Karen has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. She is a licensed attorney in the state of Texas, and a member of the American Bar Association.
