Karen Walrond, founder
Karen Walrond is a writer, photographer, author, and speaker -- and that's just during working hours. She's also a licensed attorney, and the former Chief Counsel of one of the largest software companies in the oil & gas industry and the former Chief of Staff of a Fortune 200 company. In addition to her extensive legal experience, she is also the author of the best-selling book The Beauty of Different: Observations of a Confident Misfit, and the creative mind behind the award-winning site Chookooloonks, a finalist in the photography category of the 2011 Bloggies. She is a TEDxHouston speaker and a sought-after keynote speaker, having covered topics as varied as journaling, creativity, photography, philanthropy, social media and women in leadership, and has appeared on both local & national television shows and other news media, including PBS, Huffington Post, CNN.com and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Karen has a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Texas A&M University, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. She is a licensed attorney in the state of Texas.
